Happy Holidays!

Wow, I can’t believe Christmas is less than a month away. This year has sure flown by!
I know I haven’t posted an update in a while, so I wanted to do that today.

I’m not sure if and when I’ll publish a second illustrated children’s cookbook. Be a Superhero in the Kitchen was very popular, but the process (illustrations, editing, printing, and marketing) was stressful. I am contemplating creating another cookbook but making it without illustrations so it targets a wider audience.

ACT  TWO in the reality series is almost complete. Unlike ACT ONE, this one will be for adults. (due to curse words)

For those who have read ONE or Both of my books, THANK YOU.

For those unfamiliar with my works, I hope you check them out!

Readers’ Favorite Book Review!

Reviewed By Kristine Zimmerman for Readers’ Favorite

Kids love superheroes! Even better, kids love being superheroes. Donna Glass has written a cookbook with that in mind. Be a Superhero in the Kitchen enlists kids in helping to make the food that they eat. She starts her book with a list of superhero cooking tips including the tip to make sure to ask for help when needed because teamwork is awesome. Each recipe is laid out simply on one page with ingredients and instructions. Many spreads include some superhero tips in speech bubbles that suggest ways to personalize the recipe. There are healthy kid-friendly main and side dishes as well as some yummy deserts and a punch recipe.

Be a Superhero in the Kitchen by Donna Glass is truly a cookbook written for kids. What kid would not want to try making Crime Fighter’s Cookie Fluff? The recipes are original and not overwhelming. Each recipe has minimal ingredients and simple directions. The recipes themselves, while including some healthy ingredients, will be things kids want to eat, especially because they will have a hand in making them. The illustrations by Alejandro Chamberlain are spot-on. They showcase a diverse group of families, and kids will love the fun superhero costumes! I especially loved the colander on the head. Parents are often looking for ways to get food into their picky eaters. Be a Superhero in the Kitchen will be a cookbook they will want to share with their kids. They may even want to dress up like superheroes themselves the next time they are in the kitchen.

One More SUPER Menu!

(Meat or cheese) tortellini or (breaded or unbreaded) ravioli, jar sauce, mozzarella sticks, veggie of your choice.

If you can find both tortellini  (cold section) and the ravioli (freezer section), you can easily have two days of meals. You can make a butter sauce or buy a jar/marinara sauce.

Fish tacos

If you don’t like fresh fish and slaw on your tacos, try breaded fish, tartar sauce, cheese, and lettuce on a soft shell. It’s quick, easy, and gives you a new option for Taco Tuesday

Lil’ Smokies (cooked on a stovetop or in a slow cooker)

Lil’ Smokies + grape jelly + slow cooker = a quick, easy meal your whole family will enjoy!

We love having breakfast for supper.

Your Super Chef will love making Magnificent Muffin Cones, located in Be a Superhero in the Kitchen.

Select a protein and, for the side dish, make Colossal Bacon and Bean Sidekick.

Looking for a true hands-on activity? Then look no further. Snapping the ends off green beans will keep Super Chefs mighty busy. Plus, who doesn’t like playing with their food?!  🙂

You can find the recipe in Be a Superhero in the Kitchen.

Grill out burgers, chicken, bratwurst, etc.

Serve some POW! Party Punch! You can find the recipe in Be a Superhero in the Kitchen.

It’s a SUPER BOOK BIRTHDAY!

Be a Superhero int he Kitchen is officially out today. Before you buy, check out what ARC’s reviewers have said about this SUPER children’s cookbook!

My daughter went through this book as soon as we received it to bookmark the recipes she wanted to make first. She picked the Colossal Bacon and Bean Sidekick, the Amazing Pudding Parfaits, and Crime Fighter’s Cookie Fluff.

We have made 2 of the 3 recipes now and the ingredient lists are parent and budget-friendly. The ingredients are easy to come by and already had a lot of the ingredients in our cabinets! The instructions were easy to follow for my daughter and she had so much fun making the food. Finally, and most importantly, it was delicious!

To Read or Not To Read:
I would recommend Be a Superhero in the Kitchen for any child that enjoys cooking, or wants to try it out!

nuraslittlelibrary

It’s so adorable. Each page has a recipe; the ingredients, directions and a superhero tip. There is a menu list in the beginning listing all 20 recipes followed by a page of cooking tips. It’s definitely the cutest cookbook I’ve ever seen. I’m going to have to order a few more for the little chefs I know!

allbookedupnow

This is a really cute cookbook for kids when your kids want to make something but you don’t have much time. A lot of the recipes call for things already made, such as a tube of biscuits, pre-made pizza crust, etc. The parent wins because they don’t have to spend much time supervising some lavish recipe and the kid wins because they actually feel like they’ve made something useful. A win-win!.
